Students: visa-free
What do I need to do before coming to Russia?
1. You must be admitted to HSE University for a Bachelor's, Master's, or Specialist's degree program, an Exchange program, a Doctoral program, or an International Preparatory Year programme.
2. Check your passport: it must be valid on the planned date of entry into Russia. It must also have enough space for entry and exit stamps. If you do not have enough blank pages in your passport, you must apply for a new one. The duration of your stay in Russia depends on the expiry date on your passport and your period of enrolment at HSE University.
3. Effective July 1, 2026, a new rule requires all visa-free foreign citizens to use the "Gosuslugi RuID" mobile app when entering Russia. Applications must be submitted at least 72 hours before arrival. Exemptions apply to Belarusian citizens, children under 6, diplomats, service passport holders, and official delegation members. More information you can find on our website.
