1. Before leaving Russia

Before leaving for another country for any purpose, inform the owner of the apartment / hotel receptionist about the date of departure and the planned date of your return. If you plan to depart through Belarus, bear in mind the specificities of border crossing.

When should I return?

You can return any day while your multiple-entry visa is valid, but at least 35 days before its expiration in order to timely apply for a visa extension.

What if my visa expires when I am abroad?

You will need an invitation to apply for a new visa. The visa application process is described here.

2. What should I do while crossing the border when leaving Russia?

The checkpoint officer will require you to provide your passport with a valid visa and migration card. The officer will keep the migration card, and the border crossing stamp will be placed in your passport.

3. After entering Russia

Upon each entry into Russia, foreign citizens must be registered with the migration authorities within 90 days after entering the country.
