1. I want to go to another Russian city, should I inform anyone?

Yes, and this will depend on where you reside.

I reside in an apartment

Inform the owner of the apartment twice: before the trip and upon your return to the apartment.

On the next working day after arrival, contact the owner of the apartment with a passport, migration card, and migration registration slips from all places where you have stayed during your trip. The owner of the apartment can use these instructions. Ask them when to pick up a new registration.

I live in a hotel

Inform the hotel receptionist twice: before the trip and upon your return to the hotel.

If you have chosen an apartment and plan to stay there longer than seven working days, agree with the owner of the apartment that immediately after your arrival you will be registered with the local migration authorities. Remind them that you need a registration slip. Collect the registration slip and check your personal data carefully.

I am planning to live in a hotel

While checking in, you will be asked to present your passport, migration card, and previous registration slips to the receptionist. Please remind them that you will need a new migration registration slip from them. Upon receiving a new registration slip, check your personal data carefully.

If you stay at a hotel in Moscow or the Moscow region for any period, enquire with the receptionist as to whether you will be registered with the migration authorities there.

The feasibility of your next registration with the migration authorities shall depend on whether you have been properly registered while travelling, as every new migration registration received while travelling across Russia invalidates previous registrations.
